Latrobe, Pa. – On December 10, the Saint Vincent College Fall 2021 Practicum in Public History class will release the Women of Westmoreland County (WoW) digital resource. In this project, historical women from Westmoreland County are featured at wowhistory.net.
Undergraduate students from Saint Vincent College worked together, alongside regional partners, to feature local, historical women in a wide variety of fields. Stories and collections from more than 16 historic, cultural, nonprofit, and heritage institutions in the county can be found on the site. Exhibit themes include women in the following fields: Healthcare, Science, Industry, Education, Politics, Arts, Sports, Religion, and Community/Philanthropy.
Women of Westmoreland County will continue to be developed by future Practicum in Public History students. Additional partnering organizations and local women’s history stories are sought.
