Founded in 1989, Freeport Theatre Festival is one of the few remaining barn theatres in Western Pennsylvania, nestled within the northern foothills of the Laurel Highlands. Located on the Steele farmstead, FTF boasts a resident playwright, Rennick Steele, whose historical dramas, inspired by our shared history, theatricalizes, animates and enhances the stories of the people of Western Pennsylvania. Historical dramas range from the ever-popular Massey Harbison, a local frontier heroine, to Washington in the Ohio Country, revealing the adventures of young George Washington, our country’s first live action hero. Come and experience history unfold before your very eyes.

Stage Right’s performing arts school currently offers classes in jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, musical theater, acting, and voice for all ages, as well as theatrical productions featuring both employed actors as well as their own students.

The Lamp Theatre

Built in 1937 as a movie house, The Lamp Theatre in Irwin PA completed a renovation project in 2015. Adding a stage, orchestra pit, stadium seating, a box office, and concession room, the theatre had it’s first performance in the fall of 2015. Since then this local treasure has hosted live theatre, concerts, comedy, and speakers to packed houses. This venue provides cinematic performances as well. The Lamp is available for rent for private events such as parties, weddings and corporate events.

The Palace Theatre

A historic performing arts venue opened in 1926 as a vaudeville theatre, The Palace Theatre today welcomes 82,000+ guests annually from all across the country. This 1,369-seat theatre, located in Greensburg’s Cultural District, is beautifully maintained by Westmoreland Cultural Trust and boasts French Renaissance décor highlighted by two Louis Grell murals and golden Grecian marble. The vibrant schedule features nationally touring concerts, comedy, musical theatre, dance and family shows. The theatre is home to Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra and a regional venue for River City Brass, in addition to hosting productions by local arts groups, including Stage Right and Laurel Ballet.
