The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art is dedicated to preserving, exhibiting, and advancing American art while serving the communities of Western Pennsylvania with exhibitions of fine art and educational programs, including children’s summer art camps. The Ligonier Valley museum features a rotating exhibition schedule of national, regional, and local artists, plus a paperweight collection on permanent display. Visitors enjoy strolling through the eleven flower gardens, featuring a mixture of ornamental trees, annuals and perennials. In 2018, the Museum will unveil a new sculpture park offering a unique blend of contemporary, abstract and traditional sculptures varying in size and scope.

Imagine a space filled with stunning woven textiles handloomed with exquisite craftsmanship in 19th century America. As you enter, you walk into the world of textile production in the 1800s. You picture a woman sitting at a spinning wheel, dexterously turning fiber to thread. You see a loom and imagine a young man expertly practicing the art of weaving. The McCarl Coverlet Gallery houses over 700 woven coverlets and 100 pieces of textile equipment. Come learn about the history of weaving through exhibits and hands-on programming. The McCarl Coverlet Gallery also offers changing exhibits, group tours, speaking engagements, and more!

Located in downtown Greensburg, The Westmoreland is a regional museum with a national presence. Home to more than 3,400 objects of fine and decorative American art, The Westmoreland’s collection includes works by major artists spanning four centuries. It also captures the region’s rich agrarian and industrial past by placing local past within the greater context of the nation.
