Summer Camp: Drawing, Drawing And More

Mon, Jun 12 – Fri Jun 16

If you are ready to take your art to the next level and want to become the artist you have always wanted to be, then this is the camp for YOU!  Start the summer off with a beginners drawing class where we will focus on drawing techniques using graphite, charcoal, and pen & ink.  Miss Gabi will introduce basic skills on overall composition, light, contour line drawings, shading, and positive & negative space.


Summer Camp:  Color, Color And More...

Monday, July 10 – Friday, July 14

It’s a week full of nothing but COLOR!  Explore in-depth the primary, secondary and tertiary colors by creating a mandala color wheel using only the primary colors.  Miss Gabi will help you learn about the expressive qualities of color.  Once you understand the world of color, you can create ANY COLOR!  You will be learning different techniques using colored pencils, watercolor pencils, professional markers, and acrylics.


Painting, Painting And More...

July 24-28 (2 Sessions)

Let’s take a leap out of the box and try your hands with acrylics, oils, inks, and watercolor.   Explore various techniques using watercolor pencils and masking fluid, paint with palette knives, and use acrylic texture mediums to create a 3D effect in your paintings.  Miss Gabi is ready to spend a week creating art with you.  Brief discussions on composition and color theory plus lots of mixing! So get ready, it’s PAINT TIME!!


Mixing It Up-Mixed Media (2 Sessions)

Mon, Aug 7 - Fri, Aug 11

Express YOURSELF! Create your own unique artwork by using a variety of mixed media techniques.  Experiment with dying, collaging, adding texture to your artwork, as well as mixing pen & ink with watercolors.  Anything from Abstract to Realistic. . .this is your chance to find your unique voice through ART!


SESSION 1: (AGES 3-6) 10AM-11:15AM


Non-Members-$90; Members-$75/$55 each additional sibling

Upon registration a non-refundable $50 fee is required to hold your space. The remainder of the balance can be paid the first day of camp.


Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art-Ligonier Valley

Kids Art Camp: "An Exploration of Art through Nature" at SAMA-Ligonier Valley

From June 12 through 16, the Museum will offer “An Exploration of Art through Nature.” Led by art educator Shane Stofko, children will learn to explore the world around them while developing their artistic skills. Campers will use everyday objects found in nature to create exciting and interesting works of art. Designed for ages 5 to 9, this camp will conclude with an art show and reception for the campers’ friends and family on Saturday, June 17.

Kids Art Camp: "Landscapes in Summer" at SAMA-Ligonier Valley

“Landscapes in Summer,” will be led by nationally renowned artist Jaime Cooper. Students ages 10 to 14 will explore various painting mediums and color mixing techniques, and also will be introduced to landscape painting on the museum grounds. The camp will conclude with a reception for campers’ friends and family on Saturday, June 24.

Children's Summer Art Camp: Fun & Games

Half-Day Camp: Fun & Games (kids ages 6-7)

This camp really is all fun and games. We will borrow ideas from toys of the past to create our own, unique and modern, games and toys. We will make boats, stuffed creatures and other games to share with family and friends.

Children's Summer Art Camp: Bright Ideas

Full-Day Camp: Bright Ideas (kids ages 11-13)

Artists come up with great ideas all the time and then incorporate those ideas into art. Natural light and manmade light effects will be used to create 2D and 3D works of art focusing on shadow, shading, illumination and other bright ideas. Our field trip to the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts will feature the great ideas of Pittsburgh’s up-and-coming artists.

$125 for Museum members, $145 non-members. Full-day campers are to bring their own lunch each day. 


Children's Summer Art Camp: Stuck

Half-Day Camp: Stuck (kids ages 6-7)

When art is made with layers of materials, how is it held together? Perhaps with glue and tape, but what about zip ties, brads, pins and sticky, gooey materials? This camp will explore techniques of laminating layers, wheat paste sculpture, junk assemblage, collage and unconventional attaching methods.

Children's Summer Art Camp: Moving Parts

Full-Day Camp: Moving Parts (kids ages 8-10)

Come explore movement in art with science, kinetics, mobiles, gravity and visual movement of color and shape. Create 3D sculptures with moving parts, hand-powered art, movement with batteries, op art and breezy art. Then explore the science behind motion during a trip to the Carnegie Science Center.


Monday, July 17 - Friday, July 21

9 a.m. - 3 p.m.


$125 for Museum members, $145 non-members. Full-day campers are to bring their own lunch each day.

Geyer Peforming Arts Center

Camp Curtain Call: Beauty & the Beast Jr.

Students will be cast early June and will attend theater camp from Monday, June 12 to Friday, June 16 during the day to learn the music and put together a full show for our weekend performances. The kids experience a full-length production process in just one week. 

There are NOT sign-up slots, students will be seen in the order they arrive. Students only need to attend one audition time. 

This audition will consist of singing and a group audition. Students should come prepared to move. They should come prepared to sing 30 bars of their favorite song. Students need not bring music; they can sing accapala (without instrumental) or a CD player will be provided if you bring your own music.

Fort Ligonier

Fort Kids' Camp II at Fort Ligonier

This day camp at Fort Ligonier is for kids who have completed grades 1-6. Kids step into history, play games, enjoy scavenger hunts, make new friends, and more! Activities include:

    • Explore the fort and museum
    • Play Cannonball! (the fort’s version of dodgeball
    • Have a grenadier water balloon
    • Take the field in a mini reenactment
    • Learn about daily life in the 18th century
    • Dress in colonial clothes
    • Enjoy 18th century games and 21st Century games with an 18th century twist
    • Participate in arts and crafts activities related to our history

Historic Hanna's Town

Colonial Camp at Historic Hanna's Town

Designed for school age children 7-11 years old, Campers learn about daily life on the frontier in Southwestern Pennsylvania during the Revolutionary War era. The staff engages the children in a variety of hands-on activities such as period amusements, cooking and baking, trades, crafts, and Native American life.

Compass Inn Museum

Stagecoach Adventurers at the Compass Inn Museum

Looking for a travel adventure unlike any other? Join Compass Inn Museum's Stagecoach Adventurers, where children grades 4 through 6 experience the 19th century in this fun-filled hands-on day camp. Campers will have the opportunity to apprentice under a tinsmith, learn how to cook over the fire, experience 19th century games, music and dance, and build their very own stagecoach.

Because this is an outdoor camp, we encourage children to dress in clothes that can get dirty.
